Should Nerds Hide In The Geek Closet Or Come Out?
I spend a lot of my time doing “geeky” things. World of Warcraft and things like that. Should I list this as one of my hobbies on my dating profile?

Kevin, believe it or not World of Warcraft is one of the most recognized games around the world. You don’t get a level of recognition that high unless a lot of people are interested in it! There’s nothing wrong with listing your slightly nerdy hobbies because you never know who else has the same interests as you.
That being said, you shouldn’t revolve your profile around said hobbies. It’s fine if you have an interest in board and video games, but putting too much emphases on that can lead people to unwanted conclusions. When people hear that you love video games, their first thought, regardless if it’s warranted or not, will be that you’re lazy. You don’t want to scare off a potential match before she’s even gotten past the second line in your about me section, so hold off on going overboard in expressing your love for other worlds.
Your best bet is to mention it casually in the interests section of your online personals and talk to someone about it who asks during a chat. If you connect with a woman and she mentions that she’s a part of the gaming world as well, go wild with your conversation! Talk about WoW until the end of the day if you’d like. If she simply inquires about what WoW is, give her a brief outline of what it is, and leave the door open for her to either ask more questions or move on to a different conversation.
You never want to isolate someone who doesn’t understand that world, so keep the geek conversation casual until you can get a grasp on her thoughts on the matter.
