Is Find Your FaceMate The Vainest & Creepiest Online Dating Site Of Them All?
Is Find Your FaceMate The Vainest & Creepiest Online Dating Site Of Them All?
We all know the story of Narcissus. Â The son of a Greek River God who topped the Darwin Awards after falling in love with his own damn reflection in the river and when he tried to kiss it, he drowned literally in his own vanity.
It seems like something that would only happen in Greek mythology, but alas, our online dating obsessed generation has made it possible to embrace the Narcissus in all of us with the brand new dating site FindYourFaceMate.com.
This new venture in online dating matches local singles based solely on facial-recognition technology and according to founder Christina Bloom, we’re apparently made to seek out people whose facial features resemble our own thanks to a part in our brains called the fusiform gyrus region that is devoted to facial recognition and are more trusting of people that look like ourselves.
“It is a very nuanced matrix with a primary focus on the outline of the face and the placement of features,†says Bloom. It’s not necessarily the size of your nose or the colour of your eyes that matters but how those facial features are arranged and overall face shape.” says Found Christina Bloom.
Now I get that we can all be narcissistic at times, (FaceBook and Instagram have proven that) but besides the morid curiosity of trying a dating site or app with a new gimmick, I just don’t understand why anyone would want to be matched with someone for the long hall who looks exactly like them and I will list my reasons why below I think this site is only going to promote the vainest and creepiest matches you have ever met in your life.
1. The Dating Site Promotes Segregation
I understand that Find Your Facemate’s mission statement is to not promote “sticking to your own kind,” but let’s get real now: Most people who are going to sign up to use this service are primarily expecting to be matched with someone who is the same race as they are. I listed above that the lateral fusiform gyrus is a facial recognition region of the brain and it is more activated when seeing familiar faces and races. Â By promoting to this its users, it is more likely to attract people who are not likely able to see past differences. (i.e. RACISTS) It may sound a little harsh, but it’s true.
2. FindYourFaceMate.com Is Likely To Attract Vain Singles
Seriously now, what is appealing about seeking someone to date online who looks exactly like you? I have no idea, but I do think people who have the answer to this question are more vain than Reggie Mantle in the Archie comics.  It is a proven fact that people that indulge in narcissism have more love for themselves than they do for anybody else in their lives. They put so much focus on their looks and avoid discussing emotions and have no regard for your own feelings. So if finding yet another vain, emotionally unavailable single who is devoid of feelings of empathy attracts you, why not just date your ex instead?
3. It Condones Doppleganger Dating
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I really get creeped out when I see couples that look they can be siblings. Do you really want to be banging someone that everyone thinks is your brother or sister? Â Do you really want to date someone who gets hit on right in front of you BECAUSE others assume you are related? Â Yeah…I didn’t think so.
So that is just a few reasons why I wouldn’t recommend this dating site for more than shits and giggles. In my personal opinion, diversity is the spice of life. Life is way too short to stay in the comfort zone because the best experiences, memories and romances happen when you least expect it to. Experience new things and people and diminish that fusiform gyrus complex of yours  already!Â

This is CRAZY! Why in the hell would you want to look like the person you’re dating? People will think you’re brother and sister! hahaha
Ugh. It’s like Stormfront and Rate a Date all rolled up into one.
Personally, I like variety: all different colors, shades and types. I think more people ought to as well.
